When life hands you lemons... :D

The past month or so of my life has been a whirl wind of drama, good and bad. It has been like climbing Mt. Everest, and I feel like I am more than half way to the top.
I finally found a little part time job at Visiting Ancillary Services. It is a non-profit Dental organization that delivers care to patients in nursing homes. As of right now its only 25 hours a week, and I am not doing any assisting. I do lots of filing, sterilization, answering phones and I am learning lots about dental insurance and billing. I do have the opportunity to have this turn into a full time position, and I think that is when I will be assisting. However, I have to start somewhere and as long as I am gaining some sort of dental knowledge I feel like I am in a good place. It has taken me awhile to get my foot in the door so I am very thankful for this job. I am going to continue to look for another part time job, with the blessing of my boss who will work out a schedule if need be.

I also have met a whole new group of amazing people that have became quite the group of friends! I've learned to play football, Frisbee and baseball like a pro, I have hiked and been outside more than I have in forever and I have been having the time of my life.
Things have been so rough lately, that I feel like life handed me a bundle of lemons, and told me to squeeze the living day lights out of ever one! I have taken advantage of the new opportunities that have came my way, and I normally have a hard time going with the flow. Its working for me though and I feel very motivated.

I guess I have nothing else to say besides thank God for answering my prayers, and giving me signs so I do not stray.

In the presence of the Lord

No matter the religion, temples have a way of beauty, secrecy, and above all else, they are sacred. Wanting to visit the building for quite some time, I made the 30 minute drive only to walk around the outside and be awestruck with peace. The parking lot was full of visiting parked cars, while everyone was quiet on the inside. The area is so serene, and I enjoyed the sound of the water fountain as I sat and enjoyed the view.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints built our beloved temple in Centennial Colorado in 1986. Many know that cameras are not allowed on the inside. The temple is tucked into a great neighborhood, and when you turn the corner Moroni stand high and mighty through the clouds and the trees.
The day was absolutely beautiful and I just had to share my peaceful moment of the day!

Too good to be true

Well, I was let go from my job after my second day. It has taken me some time to get use to the fact that I was fired before I really had a chance to shine, and that I did nothing wrong... Even after hiring me for my amount of experience (they wanted to train) I was let go for the same reason. I honestly can't begin to think of the real reason I was let go, but I am now back to job hunting.

With all of my free time back, I finally was able to figure out some of the stuff for my website. Word Press can be similar to blogger in the sense that I write and post a blog, however word press means lots of html codes, and has much more of a professional look. Although I am not sure what a 'finished' website looks like, I am pretty sure I have as much material as I am going to have for the moment to put on there. I also have started another blogger blog, specific for my photography, and I now am starting to wonder if people even look at my stuff... lol
Oh well. With that said, I am about ready to launch my website and hope to bring in more work. I really do love my photography, and I get better every time.

To infinity and beyond!

Before I hide away in my bedroom and enjoy my one and last day of rest, I wanted to post about my happiness before I get overwhelmed and forget it!!

Yesterday was a perfect day for me! I woke up to find tax money, and finally I am a proud owner of Canon 7D D-SLR. I have been awaiting this moment for a very, very long time and I cried when I got to hold the camera in my hands! I have two beautiful lenses, and a billion more setting to attempt to learn...
My love for photography is growing, and so is my photography itself. I am feeling so very inspired, I can't even express!!

As if holding one dream in my hands (literally) was not enough, my phone rang with fabulous news! I had an interview at a dental office a few weeks ago, and my interview went extremely well. I knew the second I walked into the office I wanted the job. I waited and waited to hear back, and finally got a voice mail. This voicemail came Monday morning, and it said "someone else was chosen, but we might have another position open up. We will keep your resume on file, and contact you then."

Obviously, no one believes that an employer is actually going to call you back...  and I was wrong to think so because I got the phone call on Saturday for a full time Hygiene Assistant position! The pay is enough and the job is awesome. I have all the opportunity in the world to move up in the office, and I have every intention on doing so.
I am so excited, I have been going stir crazy. But when I think about starting a career, I get nervous! With that said, I am still more than confident I am the right one for the position, and I am so blessed I have job. Especially one I want!!

Happiness doesnt grow on trees, but peaches do! :D

February is a very busy month for me, and looking for a job has made it that much more crazy. With that said, I have so much to look forward to, it is a little crazy.
Obviously, Valentines day is right around the corner. I have no special plans, besides sitting in front of the TV watching netflix and eating lots of chocolate and my favorite blueberry pomegranate ice cream (That only comes out this time of year). Valentines day really has lost its significance the last couple years because our anniversary is on the 21st. With such a special, real significant day to be exactly a week after the day of 'Love', we both agreed that as long as we are with each other, it is the only thing we need to celebrate the day.
With an extra week to plan a special way to celebrate our day of Love, I have been plotting away at all the crafty things I can do. I cant wait to share my craft ideas!

Anyway, I am also awaiting a couple job interviews, so keep your fingers crossed. And as soon as that happens, I can have what I am truly awaiting... my beautiful 7D Canon DSLR with a macro lens... ;) I am melting just thinking about holding it in my hands!! I have my mind on so many things; my job, my dreams, my relationship... I feel like life is about to send me on a very beautiful and exhilarating roller coaster ride.

New year, new beginings

My Dental Assistant program comes to an end the first week of February (The 21st if we count the final day as my last day). At the last minute I was able to find an internship an the Shining Stars Kids Dentistry. Its located in Belmar, which is a really nice area. The office is this little hole in the wall, and when you walk in it really comes to life. Dr. Lawrence Musajne (Or Dr. Lawrence) was born and raised in Uganda. He then went to Hong Kong where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery. He studied at CU and opened his practice in June. My experience (keep in mind it was just my first day of the 3 day internship.) awesome. I helped place a sealant and fill a couple cavities. I even held the hand of a 12 year old patient who was very afraid, and finally, with my help, relaxed enough to take a snooze while the doctor did her filling. I really can see myself being a dental assistant, and it took me until today to feel optimistic about my choice. when speaking with Dr. Lawrence about how difficult it was to find a place to do my internship he said " Angelena, we have I been in your shoes, in order to get where I am now. Sometimes, Doctors need to remember what it was like. At some point, we needed help too." He then handed me a pair of gloves and a mask. It was really cool that he had confidence in me from the very beginning. (:

In other news, I have been keeping up on my photography, and have made the decision to make another blogger blog specifically for my photography. It will still be linked with Heart on My Sleeve; Just photography specific. I have lots of things to post, now that I have the green light to share these amazing images.
It should be up in just a couple days so keep an eye out!!

I have been so blessed, and the next couple weeks are full of blessings. I love when faith is strengthened.

Practice, Practice, Practice!

Before my family and engagement session tomorrow (Saturday) I went out and practiced taking pictures in different manual modes, and doing my best to 'direct' poses and what not. Alyssa, a good friend of mine, offered herself as a model and we took a few good ones. I grabbed some new photoshop pre sets, and here is the finished product.

I will have a website up and running by Monday, however it may take a few days to set up. When that happens, all of my photography will be posted there. I am really excited about the legitimacy I am starting to form, with help of course. Who knows, maybe a business will take flight, and I can work and play at the same time! ;p

I will keep everyone posted on the website, and will share photos from my first paying gig (Woo!) here in the next few days. Enjoy your weekend!
